The Crusades were a great breaking-point in the Middle Ages. Every Christian wanted to fight the Turks and Arabs. Some of the causes of the Crusades was that Urban II wanted more power, Alexius I was involved and so was spirituality and the common Christianity and that the Christians wanted to control the holy land. After the Crusades, the effects were stunning, because Feudalism ended, new weapons were made, kings gained more power, trading exploded with the soldiers came back with new spices and new knowledge about the world and education.
Back then in Islamic times, astronomy was important because Omar Khayyan created the leap year. Also medicine was important because Ibn Sina's book lasted up to 600 years thanks to her outstanding medicine knowledge. Bookmaking was a big help too because ever since China invented paper, it has been a big success trying to communicate with other languages. But in literature, Khayyan also uses figurative language and rhyming.
